Omega 3 fatty acids are so important for brain development, eye health & nervous system support - amongst other things. It’s a nutrient our body can’t produce on its own, therefore we must look to our diets for supply. This can be a lot easier said than done sometimes, especially when feeding the little people in our lives, but finding creative ways to serve sources like oily fish and nuts/seeds can often yield better buy in. Potentially divisive for some, but one way I have been adding oily fish into the diet of my toddlers is making them what I call ‘mackerel mash’ - which is exactly as it sounds!

Want to try? 🐟🥑 Mash 1/2-1 avocado with 1/2-1 tin mackerel. The key is to have more avocado, so it’s a less fishy taste. I then grate a bit of cheese through as well. Serve with veggie dippers or crackers or just a spoon, for those who are really keen.
Mackerel is a more milder fish than sardines, so it’s good for entry level eating if you’re wanting to get more oily fish into your diet or your kids diet. You could also use salmon. Let me know if you make it!
